 The annual Walk to Remember memorial service, balloon release and walk is a touching and wonderful memorial to our babies. Please click on the link to view specifics on signing up.

A Walk to Remember honors our babies, and seeks to promote support, education and awareness for grieving parents.

Location: Scripps Ranch Community Park.
Time: 7:30 am.

  Volunteer for Memorial Quilt: We are looking for someone to help with the assembly of our memorial quilts. Please contact Empty Cradle if you would like to volunteer for this special project! (619) 595-3887 and (951) 626-5677
  Volunteer Opportunities: Empty Cradle is comprised solely by volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of those who have experienced the loss of a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
 
All of our resource parents have experienced a loss and have benefited from services that Empty Cradle offers, most especially the fellowship and healing that comes from peer support. Participating as a volunteer can help to empower those parents who are working through their healing process and greatly benefit all involved.

Current Volunteer Roles

  • Meeting volunteers: Set up and clean up for monthly meetings, greet members as they arrive and welcome new members with overview of our new member packet and the services of empty Cradle. Snack coordinators help to ensure there are refreshments at each meeting, as well as set up and clean up of the refreshments.
  • Sharing Circle Facilitator: Lead a sharing circle at monthly meetings.
  • Spanish Speaking Support: Help translate for Spanish speaking members at meetings, provides phone support to Spanish speaking members and help translate written materials.
  • Subsequent Pregnancy Support: Provides telephone support to parents experiencing a subsequent pregnancy, facilitates subsequent pregnancy group at monthly meetings.
  • Librarian: Set up and take down library, help parents find books that may be of help to them, check books in and out, keep inventory, order new books.
  • Phone Resource Parent: Pick up messages and return calls (one week shifts every three months approximately), provide telephone support to newly bereaved parents who have experienced a loss similar to your own.
  • Materials Coordinator/Assistant: Assemble literature for meetings, memory boxes, trainings and events. also mails out new member packets and brochures upon request.
  • In-Service Coordinator/Speaker: Coordinates In-Services with hospital and other community organizations. Participation in a panel of speakers that present to the professional community by telling their stories and giving information regarding the services that Empty Cradle offers.
  • Newsletter Editor/Assistant: Provide content, publish, print and mail out bi-monthly newsletter to all families and professionals on our mailing list. Maintain database of members addresses and remembrance dates.
  • Website Assistant: Provide content for website, participate in updating information.
  • Board of Directors Member: Director and key leaders meet quarterly to plan the next three month period, discuss any problems and come to consensus regarding proposed solutions and/or changes. Current positions open include: Vice President and Guest Speaker Coordinator.

  Newsletter Submissions: We always appreciate hearing from our parents. Let us hear from you. Tell your story or give us an update, send in an article, poem, a letter to your baby or a safe arrival announcement. Write a book review or send us a link to a helpful website.
